Fushimi Inari Taisha Otabisho

This is the otabisho, or mikoshi resting place , of Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine (Fushimi Ward, Kyoto).
This otabisho was once split between two locations, at Shichijo-Abura-no-Koji and Hachijo-Bomon-Inokuma, but was relocated to its present site in the late sixteenth century.
During the Inari-sai Festival, the mikoshi of the five deities (Tanaka-no-Okami (a local area god), Tanaka Shrine; Satahiko-no-Okami (a local area god), Naka Shrine; Ukanomitama-no-Okami (god of bountiful crops), Shimo Shrine; Omiyanome-no-Okami (god of business prosperity), Kami Shrine; Shi-no-Okami (a local area god), Shi-no-Okami Shrine) rest here, during which time the parishioner districts (Fudodo, Nishikujo, Shiokoji, Chudoji, Higashikujo, Hachijo-Toji) of the mikoshi are toured by the gods, while ceremonies such as the Yutate Kagura and the Rokusai Dance are performed, attracting thousands of parishioners and worshipers.
Repairs to the shrine grounds were started in 2007 (repairing and rebuilding the shrine halls, mikoshi warehouse, Kagura hall, and the Hoan-den hall), with the shrine buildings (Shimo-no-Myobu, Kami-no-Myobu, Otabi-den, Taijingu) completed by 2015. Aside from the Otabi-den, they all used materials from the old structures after the Ise Grand Shrine was ritually rebuilt. The surrounding stone shrine fence was built by parishioners in 1907, and was repaired in 2019.
